Square hardware

Square Kiosk

Kiosk is how Square merchants absorb a lunch rush without adding another cashier. Guests order and pay; tickets still land in the same Square account as your Register or Terminal. Omega helps you pick mounting, menu design, and whether you also need a staffed lane for guests who will not use a screen.

  • Self-service iPad kiosk
  • Same Square account as the register
  • Not a full hospitality replacement

Rush

Another lane without another cashier

Lunch volume moves to the kiosk while staff stay on food and exceptions.

Kitchen

Tickets must arrive where cooks look

We pair Kiosk with Square for Restaurants and kitchen display, not as an island.

Fees

Hardware is one line. The app is another.

Square Kiosk app typically needs Plus or Premium plus a per-device fee. We say that up front.

Overview

Why operators pick Square Kiosk

Square Kiosk is a self-order station for guests who can tap through a menu or catalog while staff run food, product, or the register.

Often strongest for

  • QSR & fast casual
  • Cafés
  • Cafeterias
  • High-volume retail
  • Ghost kitchen pickup
  • Self-service ordering on an iPad-based kiosk you can mount for your space
  • Pairs with primary Square POS hardware running Point of Sale or Square for Restaurants
  • Contactless and chip on supported configurations
  • Square Kiosk app is separate. Confirm monthly device fees and plan requirements

Built for how you actually sell

Square sets the product. Omega maps it to your floor, volume, and whether Clover or another system is still the better fit.

Self-service iPad kiosk

Mount for your space. Guests order and pay; staff handle exceptions.

Same Square account as the register

Pairs with Point of Sale or Square for Restaurants on the primary station.

Not a full hospitality replacement

Most shops keep a staffed Register or Terminal for cash and guests who skip the screen.

QSR

Self-order that still talks to the kitchen

A kiosk only works if tickets show up where cooks and expo already look. We plan that path, including kitchen display if you need it.

  • QSR, cafés, cafeterias, pickup
  • Staffed lane still recommended
  • Menu design is part of the project

Mounting

Counter, floor stand, or a hybrid

Hardware mounting changes the guest path. Omega walks the floor (or a live call) so the kiosk is not blocking the only register.

  • Contactless and chip on supported configurations
  • Accessory plan around the primary POS
  • Kiosk hardware is not meant to drive every printer and drawer itself

Plans

Say the monthly fee before the photo shoot

The Kiosk app has a per-device monthly fee and typically requires Square Plus or Premium. Omega will not hide that in a hardware-only quote.

  • Square sets app and plan prices
  • Clover kiosk remains a comparison
  • We sequence kitchen display after the front of house is clean

Frequently asked questions

Does Square Kiosk replace my register?
Usually no. Most shops keep a staffed Register or Terminal for cash, exceptions, and guests who skip the kiosk. Kiosk is a lane, not a full replacement for hospitality.
Can it connect printers and cash drawers directly?
When running the Square Kiosk app, the kiosk hardware is not meant to drive the same Bluetooth, USB, or Ethernet accessories as a primary POS. It pairs with your main Square station. We design the accessory plan around that.
Is this Square device included with processing?
Square publishes its own hardware pricing and software plans. Through Omega’s Square partnership, we help you choose the right device, confirm what is included, and complete onboarding. Do not assume Clover no-cost placement applies to Square.
Can Omega still offer Clover instead?
Yes. Square is an addition, not a replacement. If Clover, Union, a vertical POS, or a simple terminal is the better fit, we will say so and quote that path.
